Why Trust Contractors Finder

Last updated: July 28, 2026

Trust in a home-services directory is earned by being specific about what a platform actually does, and honest about what it doesn't. Here's our approach.

We say what we are, and what we aren't

ContractorsFinder is a content and contractor-matching platform. We are not a licensing board, a background-check company, an insurer, a law firm, or a party to any contract between a homeowner and a contractor. We say this plainly on our About And Vetting & Verification Policy Pages instead of implying a level of oversight we don't provide.

We don't fabricate reviews, ratings, or contractors

Every contractor profile, review, and rating on this site reflects real submitted information, not manufactured examples designed to make the directory look more populated or trustworthy than it is. Where a feature depends on data we don't yet have in production. For example, a fully built-out contractor review database. We say so rather than filling the gap with placeholder content presented as real.

We separate editorial content from paid placement

Our guides, cost data, and category rankings are produced by our editorial team under our Editorial Standards And checked by our Editorial Review Board, a process kept separate from contractor sales and lead-matching. Paying to receive matched leads, described in How Contractor Matching Works, does not buy a better mention in an educational guide.

We publish our limitations, our features

Most of our trust and safety pages spend as much time on what we don't check or guarantee as on what we do. See Contractor Vetting & Verification Policy And Complaints & Dispute Resolution For examples. We think a homeowner deciding who to let into their home deserves that clarity more than a reassuring badge.

We tell you what to verify yourself

No online directory can replace a homeowner confirming a contractor's license, insurance, and references directly. Several of our pages exist specifically to make that easier: our State Licensing Disclaimer Links to every state's official licensing lookup, and our Vetting & Verification Policy Lists the specific steps we recommend before you hire anyone.

We correct mistakes in the open

When we get something wrong. A stale cost figure, a broken link, an inaccurate claim. We fix it and, for material corrections, note the updated date on the page. See our Corrections & Updates Policy.
