Lead Distribution & Disclosure

Last updated: July 28, 2026

This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to the information you submit through a quote request, project planner entry, or contact form, and who receives it.

The short version: when you submit a project request, ContractorsFinder generally shares your project details and contact information with more than one matching contractor at the same time, so you can compare responses. We do not sell your information to unrelated third-party marketers.

What information is shared

Who receives it

Your request is shared with contractors on ContractorsFinder whose profile matches your project category and service area, as described on our How Contractor Matching Works Page. A single request is commonly shared with multiple contractors, one, unless a specific form on the site states that a request is being sent to a single contractor only. Each matched contractor becomes an independent data controller of the information you sent them and may retain it under their own recordkeeping practices, separate from ContractorsFinder's own Data Retention Policy.

Why we distribute to more than one contractor

Sharing a request with several matching contractors is intended to give homeowners multiple estimates to compare, rather than being routed to a single company by default. If you prefer to contact only one specific contractor, look for a direct "contact this business" option on that contractor's profile rather than using the general quote-request form.

Contractor payment for leads

Contractors on ContractorsFinder typically pay a fee to receive matched requests in their category and service area. This fee is what funds the free tools available to homeowners. Paying this fee does not guarantee a contractor will win your business, and it does not entitle a contractor to any information beyond what you submitted in your request.
